The story
I genuinely did not expect everyone to stop and watch
I put the Electric Gear Shark down on the rug, flicked it on and immediately saw why the transparent shell matters. Rather than hiding the mechanism, it turns the busy little gears into the whole show. Colour passes through the body while the shark rolls along, and the effect is wonderfully odd.
The most satisfying part was how quickly it drew attention. There was no complicated set-up or screen to stare at; the fun was simply watching a toy-shaped machine in motion. We kept following the gear train with our eyes, trying to work out which wheel drove the next.
“On the shelf it looked bright and unusual. On the floor it became a tiny moving spectacle.”
It felt more memorable than the usual opaque plastic toy because there was always something happening inside — the sort of thing that makes visitors ask, “What is that?”
I would still check the seller’s current specifications, age guidance and battery information before buying, because those details can change. But as a visual, kinetic toy, this was the rare gadget that looked every bit as entertaining switched on as it did in the pictures.
